The Beginning

Gulfstream was a by-product of early Grumman Aircraft Manufacturing. In the late 1950’s, Grumman debuted the Gulfstream 1, a twin turboprop business class aircraft. Grumman was a military aviation company, and this foray into the private sector proved fruitful. Capable of carrying 12 passengers over 2,000 miles, the Gulfstream 1 was a success. Many attribute this aircraft to be the early pioneer of private aviation.

In the 60’s, Grumman Aircraft decided to separate into two. The Grumman side would remain, focusing on military aircraft. While the newly formed Gulfstream division would create the Gulfstream 2 and work specifically in the private sector.

The Golden Age

From the 60’s to the 90’s, Gulfstream soared to new heights. The Gulfstream GIV became the pinnacle of corporate aviation. This was in part to the luxurious cabin. Capable of sitting anywhere from 14-19 passengers, the GIV truly became the flagship. Pair this with it’s already large cabin and amenities, and the GIV was insanely popular.

Todays Legacy

Gulfstream continued to set the standard in large business class jets throughout the early 2000’s. Today, Gulfstream is a global brand. Their jets are based all around the world, while having the capability to fly across oceans. Gulfstream has implemented the most advanced technology in their cockpits, allowing their aircraft to fly anywhere.
